With all the incoming energy and the energetic disruptions from the current round of solar activity, it is quite likely that at some point part of you has gone AWOL. Disappearing up your own tail pipe is, after all, a time honoured coping mechanism. But, unfortunately, we do all have to come back at some point and it’s always better to do it sooner rather than later when you seriously don’t want to come back at all. The best way to start this whole process is to fully ground your energy.
Being grounded means – being fully present in your body and feeling connected to the earth and we need to be doing both on an extremely regular basis at the moment. If you aren’t start doing it right now! You’ll know the best technique for you. Do it… repeatedly!
I know healers use grounding techniques to help themselves and anyone who comes to them for assistance, but I thought I would take a look at what people use in more orthodox healing environments. It was an interesting experience. The same thing is achieved, but in vastly different ways.
So, since we are all in desperate need of grounding and centring, not to mention earthing – that is to say, we need to discharge any excess energy in our system. We have an enormous amount of it courtesy of the solar activity at the weekend – here are a two exercises. Try them and see which one suits you.
As grounding is basically bringing your attention back to your body, this first one worked really well. You are touching your body and focused on it visually, both of which help enormously:
Using your index finger, gently trace the letters of a calming word into the palm of your opposite hand: P-E-A-C-E, C-A-L-M, S-A-F-E, or R-E-L-A-X, or, indeed, G-R-O-U-N-D-E-D
I did this on both palms to bring balance to both sides of my body. I also wrote the same word in various parts of my aura and subtle bodies to enhance the effect. I rather liked it, though to embody the quality you want – write the words I AM before you write the quality. This will enhance the whole process.
Any word you use after the phrase I AM means you embody them fully, and on all levels. It’s just another example of how you can adapt something to make it really work for you and the whole point of any simple exercise is to see how you can adapt it to make it work for you. Play with this and see what you can do. Worst case scenario – you get the energy of the quality deeply embedded into your system. Seriously, how bad can that be?
The other exercise that I found interesting was connecting to the senses through the fingers. I usually use fingers to connect to the elements. I even teach a healing technique accessing the chakras and the associated elements through the fingers, so this different idea intrigued me. It is considered a sensory awareness exercise. It certainly worked, but in the end, I found I preferred connecting to the elements. It had more meaning for me and it also had the extra advantage of bringing your awareness to, not only your body, but the energy of the elements. This is always healing in and of itself, so it makes the exercise even more beneficial.
The fingers and the elements
Little finger – water
Ring finger – earth
Middle finger – aether
Index finger – air
Thumb – fire
So here is my adaptation:
- Set the intention that you want to connect with your body as you touch it, bringing your attention and your energy back to your body so you can ground properly.
- Set the additional intention that you want to connect with the elemental energy held within each finger.
- Starting with water and the little finger, just work your way round your hand, gently holding each finger in turn with the other hand. It does not matter which one you use, or you can repeat the procedure on both hands if you are drawn to do this. You can also add that you would like to balance it by allowing healing energy to flow into the finger if you channel it.
Hope these techniques help make you feel a little more comfortable in this strange shifting energy!
Bright blessings
